A highly illustrated work on Paris.
In quarter brown morocco binding, with marbled boards and a gilt to top edge.
Written by Georges Cain, a French painter, illustrator and writer, who specialized in the history of Paris, its monuments and its theaters.
Illustrated with a folding frontispiece, 11 plans, and in text illustrations throughout.
Includes printed tissue guards of street outlines and names in red, on the monochrome engraved maps.
With the book plate of F.G. Miles, (Frederick George Miles), loosely inserted. Miles was a British aircraft designer and manufacturer who designed numerous light civil and military aircraft and a range of prototypes. The name "Miles" is associated with two distinct companies that Miles was involved in and is also attached to many non-aviation products such as the Biro pen, photocopiers and book binding machinery.
Condition
In quarter morocco. Externally, very smart. Shelf wear to extremities. Fading and marks to spine. Rubbing to head and tail of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with light age toning. Ink inscription to first blank.
