What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Proof Copy, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper

Two copies of Angela Carter's final novel, published the year before her death.

The first of the copies present here is a very scarce uncorrected proof, in the original wraps.

The second copy is the first edition, first impression, in the publisher's original price unclipped dust wrapper.

Described as a surreal ride through English theatrical and music hall traditions, the novel follows the fortunes of twin chorus girls, Dora and Nora Chance, and their bizarre theatrical family.

The novel plays on Carter's admiration of Shakespeare and her love of fairy tales and the surreal, incorporating elements of magical realism and the carnivalesque.

Condition

One copy in the publisher's original paper wraps, with the other in the original cloth binding with unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, both copies in fine condition. Dust wrapper excellent. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
