From William Barnes, the nineteenth-century "Dorset poet", who wrote over 800 poems in his lifetime, many of which notably use the Dorset dialect. This edition includes both the original texts and modern-English translations by Pauline Tennant. Including "Wold Friends a-Met", "The Girt Woak Tree that's in the Dell" and "Hope a-Left Behind", among others.

In publisher's original cloth binding with moire silk boards and marbled endpapers. Externally, only minor bumping and rubbing and a few faint marks, otherwise pristine. Internally, firmly bound. Very bright and clean throughout.
