This work contains eight stories, the majority of which are concerned with re-imagining the lives of historical and literary figures.

The 'Black Venus' of the title story is Jeanne Duval, the lover of poet Charles Baudelaire.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding, with unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent, but with rubbing to tail of rear board. Dust wrapper sunned to back strip. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
