This is the first of two autobiographies by Irish novelist, literary critic and translator Forrest Reid, who was a leading pre-war novelist of boyhood, and is still acclaimed as a noted Ulster novelist. He was awarded the 1944 James Tait Black Memorial Prize for his novel 'Young Tom'.
An association copy, inscribed by M. S. Posner to the front free endpaper. Posner was a known correspondent of the author, with whom he frequently exchanged letters.
He spends much of this work praising the Irish lanscape.
