In the publisher's original red cloth binding with blind stamping. A collection of lyrical poems themed around Florida, its landscapes, rivers, sunsets, and romanticised pastoral life, with titles including: "Song of the Bird," "Sunset," The St. Johns, Florida," "Beauty Cannot Die," "Maid of Avon," and "The Isle of the Blessed," among others.
First edition.
Signed and inscribed by the author to the front free endpaper: "To my nephew, Harry H. Lee, with many well wishes. Christmas 1920, Samuel D. Lee."
An exceptionally scarce copy of this work, with just two copies held institutionally at the University of East Anglia Library and the Hathi Trust Digital Library.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart. Very slight rubbing and bumping to extremities. Rubbing to rear board and spine with slight loss and fraying to cloth. The odd light spot to endpapers. Three small perforation marks to front joint from insect damage. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with one or two spots to first and last few leaves.
