A collection of First World War poetry written by Patrick MacGill while serving with the London Irish Rifles. The poems depict the daily life of British soldiers, including trench conditions, marches, humour, fatigue, and loss, a reflective of MacGill’s direct personal experience.
Patrick MacGill (1889-1963) was an Irish writer and soldier who enlisted in 1914 and fought at the Second Battle of Ypres. Known as “The Navvy Poet,” he published several works based on his wartime experiences, including Children of the Dead End and The Amateur Army.

In the publisher's original green cloth binding. Externally, very smart. Very slight shelf wear to extremities. Slight offsetting to endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Author's signature and numbering to limitation page. Final two leaves lightly adhered at the upper fore-edge corners.
