What Our Customers Say...
Description

A vanishingly scarce advanced copy of this very scarce limited edition work, of which 200 were produced.
Wade, Yeat's chief bibliographer, in 'A Bibliography of the Writings of W. B. Yeats', explains 'some copies on Italian hand-made paper are without the statement of limitation and agents' address on verso of front cover; these are said to be the earlier state, and I believe them to be advance copies'. Wade, 114.
One of nine out of series copies produced on Italian, watermarked AD 1470.
With the bookplate of Milton McC. Gatch to the verso of the front wrap. He was an American theologian, librarian and scholar of Anglo-Saxon and medieval Christian literature who served as a professor, Dean and Provost at Union Theological Seminary in New York.
This collection, including The Dawn, On Woman, The Fisherwoman, The Hawk, Memory, The Thorn Tree, His Phoenix and There Is a Queen in China, range in subject from nature and memory to mythic and symbolic subjects.
