The work of Sir Clements Robert Markham, a geographer and explorer, secretary of the Royal Geographical Society, and organiser of the National Antarctic Expedition of 1901-04, launching the polar career of Robert Scott.
Illustrated with nine colour coats of arms, and ten full page illustrations to volume I, and with five colour coats of arms and ten full page illustrations to volume II, by Mabel Markham. Collated, complete.
In attractive half morocco bindings.
With the armorial bookplate of Frederick Markham Tindall, a member of the Markham family, to the front pastedown, alongside the former owner's label of Joan Corder.
Condition
In a half morocco binding, with cloth covered boards. A touch of fading to back strips, otherwise externally excellent. Bookplates to front pastedowns. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright, with only the odd spot to page perimeters.
