The first edition of this work, a study of the life and work of English illustrator and author Aubrey Beardsley, known for his ink drawings and for being a leading figure in the aesthetic movement.

Illustrated with a frontispiece and fifteen plates by Beardsley, with 'revised iconography' by Aymer Vallance. Collated, complete.

The work of Robert Ross, the British journalist, art critic and art dealer, best known for his relationship with Oscar Wilde.

From the library of Holbrook Jackson, with his bookplate to the front pastedown. A noted journalist who worked for numerous magazines during his career, Jackson is known as being one of the leading bibliophiles of his time. He founded in the Flying Fame Press alongside Ralph Hodgson and Claud Lovat Fraser, and had a long association with English small presses.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Boards bright, with back strip lightly age toned. Bump and small split in cloth to back strip tail. Bookplate to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright, with the odd spot.
