First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding

The first theatre edition, first separate edition of this work, based on the revised text version. Wade 68.

Based on the Irish mythological hero Cuchulain, the play was first performed in December 1904, shortly before Yeats significantly revised the text.

With the bookplate of Milton McC. Gatch to the verso of the front wrap. He was an American theologian, librarian and scholar of Anglo-Saxon and medieval Christian literature who served as a professor, Dean and Provost at Union Theological Seminary in New York.

Condition

In the publisher's original paper wraps. Small ink mark to front wrap, otherwise externally excellent. Bookplate to verso of front wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and generally clean, with spots to first and last few leaves.
