    Description

    First Edition, Illustrated

    First edition. 

    Bound in full burgundy cloth. Bound with the original blanks, half title, and renewed endpapers.

    Illustrated by English wood engraver Thomas Bewick, with a frontispiece, title page vignette, and many more in-text woodcuts throughout. 

    Offering a charming anthology of fables by Walter Brown, interestingly written without the presence of a moral to each. 

    Including narratives such as 'The Hedge Sparrow and the Adder', 'The Two Magpies', 'The Merchant and the Serpent', 'The Two Rabbits', and others. 

    Condition

    Bound in full burgundy cloth. Externally, very smart, with a few marks to the boards and minor shelf wear. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with the odd spot. Minor toning to the blanks.
