Installment in William Turner's "Annual Tour" series, featuring artwork from his travels alongside text by accomplished writers. His "Rivers of France" collection was particularly popular, encompassing similar titles such as Wanderings by the Seine (1834) and Wanderings by the Seine from Rouen to the Source (1835). Like this edition, text was provided by Scottish journalist and novelist Leitch Ritchie. A renowned painter and printmaker, especially revered for his landscapes, Turner's influence remains prevalent today.
Condition
In full morocco binding. Binder's stamp to front paste down. Bound by F. Westley. Externally, reasonably smart. Slight bumping and rubbing, resulting in moderate loss to leather, particularly to joints, fore edge and rear board. WIth noticeable marking to front board. Internally, generally firmly bound with binding more delicate towards the front of the text block. Bright and clean copy with light sporadic spotting.
