Partly compiled from the hymn books prepared by the late Hugh Bourne, and enriched with original hymns chosen by John Flesher.
Primitive Methodism was a working-class revivalist movement within Methodism, originating in early 19th-century England, known for its fervent open-air preaching (earning the nickname "Ranters") and emphasis on "back to basics" spirituality.
Condition
Bound in calf with straight-grained morocco boards with clasp. Externally, smart with rubbing to extremities and joints. Slight creasing of leather to spine. Front hinge slightly cracked but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean but age toned. Past owners' ink inscriptions to front and rear free end papers.
