Originally published in Le Civilisateur, this work explores the life of Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson, a British flag officer in the Royal Navy whose leadership, grasp of strategy, and unconventional tactics brought about a number of decisive British naval victories during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest naval commanders in history. Written by Alphonse Marie Louis de Prat de Lamartine, a French author, poet, and statesman who was instrumental in the foundation of the Second Republic and the continuation of the tricolore as the flag of France.
Condition
Bound in half calf with marbled boards. Externally, smart with light rubbing to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting. Minor age toning to the endpapers with a contemporary inscription to the front endpaper.
