In the publisher's original cloth, with a frontispiece and eight other beautiful woodcut illustrations by Arthur Hughes, D.G. Rosetti and John E. Millais, seven of which are plates. Collated complete.

Allingham, a lyrical poet of the Victorian era, compiles poems that he had written since 1850, including the Day and Night Songs written in 1854, as well as the titular Music Master, first published in this volume. Allingham was a great influence on W.B. Yeats and published an array of poetry acclaimed for its graceful imagery.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth. Externally, smart, with the rare small mark. Rubbing to the joints and bumping to the head and tail of the spine, and to the extremities. Slight fading to the spine. End papers are generally bright and clean, with the minimal mark. Previous owner's bookplate to the front free end paper. Internally, firmly bound, with slight signs of wear to hinges between leaves p.64 and plate, pp.128-129 and 208-209. A closed tear to plate adjoining p.104. Pages are generally bright and clean, with the small rare mark and slight spotting to plate extremities, heavier to frontispiece.
