A collection of poetry written by English poet and satirist, Robert Lloyd, who was best known for his popular poet 'The Actor' and for his comic opera 'The Capricious Lovers', as well as for his pair of Odes 'Ode to Obscurity' and 'Ode to Oblivion', co-written with George Colman.
This collection is comprised of numerous works, including 'The Hare and Tortoise' fable, 'The Law Student', 'Ode to Oblivion', Lloyd's translation of 'Part of Homer's Hymn to Apollo', and many more.
With a list of subscribers to the front of the work.
Bound without the half title, with endpapers and blanks renewed.
Bookplate of Salisbury Rug to the front paste down, with an ink inscription to the title page.
Condition
Bound in full calf with the boards rebacked. Endpapers and blanks renewed. Externally, very good, with slight rubbing to the extremities and the light marking to boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright, with the odd mark or annotation. Tide mark to the lower extremity of pages 57-136, not affecting text. Ink inscription to title page.
