    First Edition, Very Scarce

    The very scarce first edition.

    English churchman and controversialist Henry Stebbing presents this work with essays on various theological topics, including regeneration, sanctification, 'saving faith' and fervency in prayer.

    ESTC T32022

    A-L8, M3. Lacking M4, the terminal advertisement leaf.

    Library bookplates of the General Theological Seminary to pastedowns, with stamp to title page.

    Stebbing was known by contemporaries as a champion of Church of England orthodoxy.

    Condition

    In cloth backed paper covered boards, with library markings to back strip. Externally, light rubbing to board perimeters. Endpapers renewed, hinges reinforced. Bookplates to pastedowns. Internally, firmly bound. Title page significantly age toned, with stamp. Pages age toned, with the odd spot and handling mark. Lacking M4, the terminal advertisement leaf.
